According to a press release, Activision-Blizzard has seen a rise in subscription numbers for it’s MMORPG game World of Warcraft. It has gone up from 7.6 million to 7.8 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2013. A rise of subscribers is usually expected after every big events such as Blizzcon. This is because they have big announcements following these events, such as the new expansion Warlords of Draenor.
Blizzard has seen a decline in subscribers since the first quarter of 2013. It’s a small decline, losing around 1.3 million subscribers. Slowly crawling it’s way up though, with the new expansion on the horizon, with added content, a free level 90 character and pre-order on it’s way, it seems like Blizzard is going to get back on track again. Seeing that old players are usually lured back into playing again once a new expansion rolls out, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens and how the new game performs in 2014.
