— World of Warcraft (@Warcraft) July 29, 2015
According to the tweet (which is the only information we have for now), the next World of Warcraft expansion will be revealed on August 6 at 9AM PDT.
No other details have been shared with MMOGames about the announcement as of right now, but we will deliver more news as the story develops. MMOGames will be present at Gamescom for the reveal, so stay tuned for exclusive coverage of the event.
EDIT: Blizzard just posted on battle.net about the event:
Join us Thursday, August 6 at 18:00 CEST for a special World of Warcraft event streamed live from gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany where we’ll be unveiling the next chapter of the World of Warcraft saga. . . .
Tune in again Sunday, August 9 at 17:00 CEST for a World of Warcraft developer chat and find out more about what’s in store.
Stay tuned to our dedicated gamescom page for further details on the live stream. Those who are able to join in person at gamescom can visit us at the Blizzard booth in hall 7.1. We hope to see you there!
EDIT: Further digging shows that Blizzard has been planning a big reveal at Gamescom for some time. Earlier this week, PCGamesN discovered that Blizzard (allegedly) registered the name “Council of Glades” on July 25. Though the trademark “Council of Glades” has since been confirmed as a fake (it shares the same reference number as Warlords of Draenor), it suggests that Blizzard has been hiding something under their sleeves for several days.
