WoW Opens the Mythic Dungeon Invitational Proving Grounds

The Mythic Dungeon Invitational Proving Grounds are now available for those who want to…well…prove themselves. If you’re the kind of player who thinks they can take on Mythic Keystones the fastest, now is the time to put your money where your mouth is.

The Proving Grounds are available from now until Tuesday, August 8th. As discussed previously, teams will have to fill out a submission form with proof of their accomplishments during the two week period in order to find the best 32 teams to compete for $100k.

According to the FAQ, teams must complete five totally different dungeon runs with no repeats, no alternate characters, and only characters that are available as part of the game’s current retail release. Additionally, runs must be cleared within the allotted time to be valid.

Teams that are selected to compete in the Invitational will be granted access to a special tournament realm with all of the consumables, gear, and other items needed to compete. Since the tournament will be online only, no travel will be required for competitors.

More information can be seen on the official site, and the complete rules for the Mythic Dungeon Invitational can be downloaded from this link.

Our Thoughts

So begins one of the more interesting journeys in esports that we can think of. It’s certainly going to be fascinating to see how many players will team up and compete as well as how much support WoW’s playerbase will offer an esport like this. Do you think PvE has a chance in digital competition, or do runs against a clock bore you?
