Black Eye Games has announced today that they have rolled out a pretty large content update for their upcoming MMORPG Gloria Victis. The crowdfunding project has some new improvements on the following subjects: Crafting, weapons, combat, buffs and debuffs and ships.
Crafting has been balanced out in terms of success chance and materials, and recipes will be added for Herbalism, Alchemy and Cooking in another upcoming update. Another change that has been made to the crafting system is the implementation of the provisional items system. This system provides you with an item, even if you fail to craft an item successfully, so you are never empty-handed.
Combat has also been improved, in terms of directional attacks. As of now, depending on which direction you are swinging your weapon, a different effect will apply to your enemy. For example, if you are attacking your foe from above, you will cause more damage than say a thrust from your weapon to the left side of your enemy. However, with a thrust from the left side, you could potentially let your enemy miss his or hers upcoming attack. This will allow for a more ‘tactical’ way of fighting an enemy and serves to highlight a player’s skills.
The buff and debuff system needs no introduction, as players are well aware of what type of system this is. However, Gloria Victis boasts a relatively realistic buff / debuff system. For instance, when your character stands near a campfire, he or she will gain a buff for increased stamina, health regeneration and bonus life. However, standing too close to the fire will cause you to burn, taking damage. Or you could stay exposed to the fire for a too long time, resulting in death. Other buffs and debuffs are self explanatory, with poisons to enhance your weapons damage, surgical dressings to heal up wounds and battlecries to invigorate you and your allies in combat.
As for the biggest update to the game, comes the Ships and the system behind it. Players are able to board ships and walk on ships, take control over the rudder to take on a desired course. In the near future, attacking and destroying other ships will be implemented as well! As of now, the only thing you will be able to do as a sailor is explore new islands, and possibly fight over control over them. Islands contain important materials, making them highly desirable for both factions and guilds alike.
Furthermore, a whole list of smaller improvements have been made, including new weapons, animations, polished models, the ability to wield torches, new sound effects and much much more! What is sure is that the game has seen a huge improvement since the last time you may have played it, with much more improvements coming to the Alpha testing of the game. As of now, the game will offer a much smoother and enjoyable experience.Related: Alpha, Black Eye Games, Crowdfunding, Early Access, Gloria Victis, MMORPG
